Coachsound® PCU42 digital audio network
The PCU42 digital audio network is a high quality, low complexity digital audio transmission format developed by Coachsound for its range of Coachsound® multi-channel audio products.
This network uses common CAT-5 cabling as found with your standard computer networks. This results in a "plug-and-play" wiring system that is extremely easy to install, requires minimal wiring and is easy to fault-find.
PCU42 consists of two main looms that originate from the Coachsound head-unit and run down each side of the vehicle where they are electrically terminated at the far ends. Coachsound systems come with two RJ45 network ports as standard and each port can connect up to 50 seats (100 seats in total). For double-decker buses, signal-splitters are avaliable that split the two standard ports into four (for easier wiring of upstairs and downstairs).
Special 'hubs' are connected to the main loom under each pair of seats to re-direct the signal from the main wiring loom to the passenger audio controllers. Each hub converts the digital signal from the head-unit into multiple CD-quality audio channels for the passenger.
